A Fresh Start

Updated: Oct 24

- Another year is about to end. A new sun cycle awaits innovators and pioneers. We have seen profound changes in the past years and have come to embrace the challenges of the post-pandemic phase. We have shed our old ways of thinking and have taken a more pragmatic approach. To succeed in any endeavor, we need to bring to the table these two important elements, namely, simplicity and efficiency. Knowing what is important and focusing on what matters will truly be a game-changer.

To say that the two-year transition was a resiliency test is an understatement. To some, the year 2020 has been a year of panic as there were those who doubled down on their efforts to stay afloat. For others, it was a year of pause as they took a step back and reevaluated their plans going forward. Consequently, the year 2021 may have been a year of burnout for some as they have expended most of their valuable resources to survive. To others, it was a year of transformation as they engaged in new projects and opened their doors to other opportunities. Ultimately, the year 2022 had been the year of nostalgia for some as they were ready to revive the victories of the past. To others, it was a year to finally move on as they put all of their efforts to start anew. How things turned out to be were based upon those choices and those choices they held cautiously with faith that things will get better.

Moving forward, the year 2023 can be an exciting one. However, given the current trends of the economy and the global uncertainties, one may assume that it will be the toughest year yet. Shortages of food and employment may be a constant headline yet the outcome of these circumstances will depend upon our preparations. We make forecasts and use our foresight to guide us through next year's challenges. Indeed 2023 could pose a phase of stagnation as there will be services that will not be relevant for the next ten years. There will be emerging needs that require new solutions. Stagnation will happen if we haven't fully reinvented ourselves to meet the demands of the new economy. This is the best time to prepare and study the trends. The landscape has already changed thus new rules are currently being written.

To those who have made pivotal changes, 2023 will be a productive year as they made important shifts in their direction. They have integrated the advancements of technology into their daily functions and transactions. The values of simplicity have guided them to trim down on the lengthy processes that often take most of their valuable asset which is time. It allowed them to direct their energy and resources on projects that need the most of their attention. On the other hand, the values of efficiency have guided them to sharpen their ways and means to perform their specialized functions. Newly developed systems have improved the delivery of their performance and most of all, it increased their daily output thus doubling their work's value and productivity. Having the presence of mind to recaliberate was necessary to capture those objectives.

Being present in the mind is being able to recognize the things and tasks that need our attention today. What we do today will have a strong influence on the future. It is important that we spare some time reassessing our current state and make a list of what we need to accomplish. We have to stabilize our grounds by making investments in self-help, health, and technical advancements. This is not the time to reap but the time to plant seeds. We have to manage our resources and make wise investments of our time. The upcoming year is a fertile ground for those who have prepared well. It will be a fresh start for all of us.

There was once a farmer who was eager to harvest the needed crops for winter, only to find out that he had no equipment to operate and worse, he forgot to plant the seeds. If you have planted this year then 2023 will be a bright one. Congratulations on all of your hard work and may you have a prosperous new year ahead.
