- Nature has a way of balancing itself. Spending time with nature will help us see the value of adaptation as it is the only path to overcome changes. We see how plants and animals transform themselves to suit their environment. The process is perfect and it does need not any support from anyone or anything. They are in harmony with the natural order of things, their exact movement, time, and execution. We see how plants extend their branches and bear fruit. Insects go through several stages before earning their ability to fly. The metamorphosis enables them to experience life in full. They take on life with great acceptance and participation.
Humans are different. Our mental capacities have made such a journey complicated and rarely in a straightforward manner. We go through unnecessary rituals before taking action. It strips away our spontaneity and the opportunities that come with it.
To live life naturally is to shed ourselves from the old and embrace the new. There is no point in going back when our direction is always forward. We never woke up to a yesterday. It is always a new day, a new challenge. Some of us change faster, others take their time. What is important is that we evolve and become better in time.
As we move forward, let's take this time to reflect on the things that stop us from improving. We will go through the top five common roadblocks to success. By becoming aware of them, we empower ourselves to act. Together, let us see how they have thrown us off our course and pull us back to that child-like adventurer we once were.
Here are the top 5 roadblocks to change.
The Freezing Fear
We have many good plans but fear freezes our ability to make apt decisions. We want to make things happen but fear stops us from doing exactly that. Decisiveness is one of the key ingredients to success and what that means is that we do not overthink or over-analyze things that need quick action. Once we over-scrutinize every detail of a plan, we begin to put things on hold and ultimately subject ourselves to a dangerous stall. Once we fail to act, we lose the momentum that will usually result in a crash. Any aviator will tell you how dangerous a stall is that's why speed and momentum are what make flying possible. Don't stop now. Push yourself forward and don't look back.
The Dumbing Doubts
These feelings are usually the product of our failure to see our potential. This dense fog worsens when we allow others to tell us who we are and what our limitations are. There's no amount of self-talk that can get people out of that trap until they get out there and discover their place in the world. We all have our niches and we need to keep on looking for them until we find them. Self-discovery is a long process and it takes faith to successfully find our place in the world. Refrain from following in the footsteps that are not yours to take. Discover who you are and what you can uniquely do apart from others. Take time to observe yourself and see what you are good at. The moment you begin to see what your capabilities are, doubt will naturally go away.
The Disabling Distractions
Our ancestors, as hunters, can synchronize all of their attention to catch their game. They do not blink and keep their eyes wide open. Once they allow any distraction, they will regretfully miss their meal for the day. They learn this lesson the hard way. Being mindful of distractions is a key aspect of self-discipline. We know what gets us off our balance and we want to avoid them. Distractions can come in many forms, be they lingering thoughts, unbridled emotions, toxic encounters, or upsetting events. They drain our energy instead of focusing our efforts on more productive things. For us not to get distracted, we should know what our target is. Know what you want and commit to it. When we focus on what we truly want, no amount of disruptions can pull us out of that direction. Determination is the art of not getting distracted. Always be conscious of what takes your focus away from what is important and be smart enough to manage them. These distractions might even be someone you know or some random stuff we accidentally browse on social media. When you are focused, it gives you a wider room to succeed. Manage distractions and you can effectively manage your life.
The Tempting Timidity
Dispassion is the cruelest form of passivity. Choosing not to immerse in life's struggles is truly the lowest form of avoidance. Life brings with it a lot of good and bad but they are all blessings to be grateful for. The most challenging times could also bring the greatest change in your life. The passion for life is hard to attain when life itself is what we dread. We all have our stories to tell and bringing our dreams into reality is a gift everyone is afforded to have. All we need to do is to get into action. Find your passion and fight for it even when no one else does.
The Unsettling Uncertainties
We resist change when change is the only thing that can keep us moving forward. Ironically, choosing the safest path to life is the most dangerous path to take. Life requires us to take considerable risks and experience reasonable discomforts. No greater success can be achieved without pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones. The unfamiliar territory may appear scary but treading through it is the most rewarding journey. You will discover things about yourself that you have never seen before. You will meet extraordinary people that you never knew existed. We learn new skills and develop new attitudes. The secret to life is to keep evolving. Change is your best friend.
Each day we are given a chance to move forward. We only need to accomplish one thing at a time while we move toward our bigger goals. Enjoy the process and take each challenge as a learning experience. The world is bigger than what our perceptions can grasp. It is always wise to keep an open mind and embrace possibilities. In whatever you do, just keep moving forward.
